Paint Colors in Our Home

Happy Tuesday! Never have I ever made a round up post of the paint colors in our house. Since I just shared tips for picking out paint colors, I figured I’d go through each room and tell you what we’ve got on the walls in our house.

First off, the trim and doors throughout the house is Behr “Swan Wing”.

It’s a good, almost purely white paint with some green undertones.

The main living space, into the kitchen and down the hall was a five gallon bucket of white oops paint that I bought for $20 and had tinted to a color I wanted….Basically, I invented it because I’m cheap.

But, since then, I color matched it to Sherwin Williams ‘Aesthetic White’.

Into the kitchen, the uppers are “swan wing” again and the lowers are Behr “Village Square”.

The bottom color is such a good, warm neutral. It works so well with our granite and floors.

Back down the other way you have the entry which is sherwin williams “snowbound”.

The door is SW “Foxy” it’s a great pinky, salmony, red.

The girls room is SW “pink shadow” at 50%. That made it slightly lighter without changing the color recipe. It’s pretty and subtle.

Remember when I had one wall black? I do. I miss it. That color is SW “tricorn black” its a great color if you’re in the market for black paint.

Their bathroom hasn’t been shared in a while but I did a quick makeover for it in 2016. It’s also SW ‘Snowbound”.

Next is the girls playroom that I made over for the one room challenge last May.

The ceiling is Behr “Queens Violet” and the walls are “Melodic White”. White with the slightest tinge of purple.

Our bedroom is another color I mixed out of other random colors we already had.

I’ve since color matched it to SW “Jasper”. The rest of the walls are “accessible beige”.

I brought that wall color all the way through the bathroom too. It looks even warmer in here with overhead lighting.

Tip:  I painted everything in here “accessible beige”. We were coming from having a really small space and with the remodel I wanted it to look as large as possible. Painting the whole space one color can do that. With the eye not being drawn to any one thing, it can move all over causing it to room seem even bigger than it it.

That’s it. The whole house.

I really like continuity with paint. It’s not necessary and doesn’t have to be done like that but I have always liked it when rooms work well together. Obviously our kids spaces aren’t that way but the rest coordinate and flow from room to room. Let me show you:

They’re all in the same family. They’re warm and cozy and neutral. When you have neutral paint you can play around with color in other places. As someone that always like to change things up, neutral walls are nice and easy.

What is your house like? Do you like to go bold and switch things up from room to room or keep it continuous? Also, let me know if you have any questions.

  1. I see white everywhere, all over Instagram. We’re finally painting our house, which the people before us probably flipped so it’s all this ugly beige. It definitely needs to be lighter so it doesn’t feel as dark. We also have mostly brown furniture. I’m thinking a warm white but my question is, HOW do people do white with KIDS?!?!?! My husband says it will look dirty fast and that white only looks good on Instagram. Is it realistic to have white walls with 3 kids under 5?!?!

  2. Thanks Ana! I think if you buy a good brand of paint and use eggshell, it’s all easy enough to wipe down. If you still don’t want white you could do a lighter, more modern grey/beige and it will still freshen things up from what you’ve got! Good luck!
