Good morning! Today, I’m with a bestie and some of her favorite people at the MOST MAGICAL PLACE ON EARTH!! That’s pretty awesome, right?! I’ve been sharing things on Instagram Stories if you want to follow along. Back at home….Back in the real world we dealt with some issues on the close of our house. It’s closed now. Praise God.
It’s been weird to not have any projects at home. I feel like we’ve been
in a holding pattern. That’s my least favorite pattern. I prefer polkadots or stripes…. I
have, however been scheming a designing rooms in our new house. Oh
yeah!! I’ve been keeping things up to date on Instagram but not here.
We’re under contract on a pretty, charming house in Richardson, Tx. I
CANNOT wait to show you!! (We aren’t closing there until early June so you’ll see it once it’s officially ours.)
In order to get the
girls excited about the move, we’ve had many, very opinionated conversations about
their new rooms. It’s been a minute since I’ve shared their room but here it is currently:
The big kid? She wants an all aqua room, all the time. No pink. Nothing else but aqua….Obviously that’s not happening but here’s what I came up with for her new room.
What do you think?!? I think she’ll love it. (The affiliate links will be at the end of this post) I based the whole room off of the rug we already have in our playroom.
It’s too beautiful and too new to sell. The aqua details in the design will tie in perfectly. And it’s deep colors hide a lot of kid room mess.
Since I love a light and bright room, I choose a neutral paint color for the walls.
Also, if she changes her favorite color, which she probably will, we wont have to paint over four walls. This is Sherwin Williams ‘Drift of Mist’.
For the pop of color, I’ll be painting her doors instead. SW ‘Raindrop’.
It’s a good compromise for kids rooms. They get their bright color and you get a mostly neutral space.
Look at these rooms I found with a painted door pop of color. A green door from Young House Love.
This navy accent from JennaBurger.com
Finally, and closer to what we’ll be doing, aqua doors from The Sweetest Digs.
She’s also really looking forward to a cork board wall. This kid has lots of important things to show off. I was inspired by images like these:

Shocker, she wants the cork wall to be aqua. Not happening. I love the warmth that the natural cork color adds. It’ll be cute.
I’ve included some other DIY projects in the room too. This cute mirror is from pottery barn kids.
I’m pretty sure we could add some ears to a thrifted mirror I already
have. Even if the bunny ears are too hard, there are always cat ears… Those are smaller. I think we could handle that.
I also plan to make her a hanging light that looks like this $230 beauty at Anthropologie.
I already have tassel trim from this project. I’m thinking embroidery hoops like I used for this light fixture will work just fine.
Let’s see. What else? A similar aqua desk was given to us by a sweet friend. The white wall lamp is currently lighting my leaning ladder desk.
I recently made over her dresser and added some cute legs (details here). It’ll look great in the space.
I picked out a fabric for throw pillows and the curtains are at IKEA. I have a feeling I’ll be frequenting IKEA quite a bit this summer.
The sheets and bedding we’ll pick out at Homegoods or wherever. She’s getting our headboard. Joel, I’m not sure I told you that yet. I’ve got a plan. Promise.
The headboard is so pretty! My dad made it. It’s currently king sized so I’m thinking it can either be cut down or we can add some kind of bedside shelf to the extra width.
I’m super excited to get in there and make her a space she loves. I’ll share the little pumpkin’s room design very soon.
