In the spring Workman’s Friend contacted me about their product. It’s a barrier cream that protects your hands while you work with paint, stain, dirt, grease and other junk that can irritate your skin or just stay there for a week when you wish it was gone….I’m talking to you, paint.

When they asked me to try their product I said, ‘thanks but we aren’t
doing any dirty work. Give me a couple months to move into our fixer
upper and I’m game!’ So that’s what we did. Right after we got here, I
had a box of samples at the door. The first job we set out to do was
paint the living room.

My mom helped so I used her as the tester.

I had to use her hands because you can see by my thumb that I had already started working.

She rubbed in on and made sure to cover her nail beds and all the spots that paint tends to get stuck.

It’s thick and soft and smells good.

A while in to painting, my hands, without the barrier cream, were a full on mess.

We had to prime everything first. Primer usually has adhesive in it so that it can more easily stick to the surface of wherever it’s being used. It takes a while to come off.

We finished painting for the day and my mom’s hands were clean, much faster than mine. Like, a day faster.

That’s awesome! And so is our brighter living room.

I tested it one more time when my sweet man changed the oil on his car.

Workman’s Friend is kind of like wearing gloves. When your hands get messy, you just wipe them down. The chemicals in whatever you’re using can’t get through the barrier cream.

It even says it works to protect from poison oak and poison ivy. There wasn’t a family member who was willing to test that for me….Geez guys.

Since we used it, I sent sample packs with a friend who had some oil based painting to do. I plan on using it the next time I stain wood. Stains are sticky and nasty. AND, after it’s not 100 degrees on a daily basis, I can’t wait to try it while we work in our new flower beds! It’s supposed to be great for that too. Also, I am aware that it’s only July but it would make a great stocking stuffer. You can find it on amazon and it’s never too early for gathering those kinds of ideas…man stockings are hard to fill.
