Laundry Room Reveal: New Year New Room Challenge

EEEEEK!!! I’m so excited to finish up the New Year New Room Challenge by sharing our completed laundry room and pantry renovation! Ta da! It’s exactly what I pictured in my head and I could not love it more!

The big statement in here is the wallpaper. It’s from Milton and King and it’s called ‘olive dapple’ in the colorway olive canvas. It was pretty easy to install. I talked more about that here. I’ve been drawn to golden yellow lately so I love how it looks in here. It’s fun, modern and sophisticated. The most perfect of combos.

The pink cabinet paint is from Velvet Finishes. I loved the process. First of all, no sanding. SCORE.  There’s a spray called ‘ready’ that cleans and prepares the cabinet for paint. The paint (a mixture of ‘ethereal’ and a tiny bit of ‘captivating’) went on so easy and smooth. To finish it off, I did a couple coats of ‘protect’. I will be using this again. I have plenty of these colors left over but I’ve got my eyes on some others too.

Art to Frames framed this print I downloaded from Etsy. I chose modern white with a white mat. I love how it brightens things up and breaks up the busy pattern of the wallpaper. You can download your images right onto their website and they print it out, frame it and send it right to your door step.

My hubs made the counter top out of plywood when we first moved in. He also made the base a while back too. I painted the base the color of the walls and trim to help it look more cohesive.

In real life the counter tops will hold our laundry baskets. We had one but when I took some extra junk off of the top, I realized 2 would fit. That means I can separate our stuff from what goes upstairs for the girls. It also means I can go twice as long before I have to put clean laundry away… Yes, I have thought about that and yes, it makes me happy.

The rug is from Home Dynamix. It’s the Rutherford rug in pink. I love how it fits in the space. It’s soft and has pretty fringe detailing.

The last thing over here is the light. HEART EYES. It’s by Mitzi from Hudson Valley Lighting. It’s called ‘Audrey’. I got the larger of 2 sizes and chose the old bronze finish. It’s perfectly matte black, looks so pretty in the space and gives off a great amount of light.

Before we switch to the other side, lets just take a quick look at a before pic…yeah….

Moving on to more beautiful things.. The pantry side. My husband built these amazing shelves.

I decided to simplify things visually by painting them to match the walls. This color is ‘ripe olive’ from Sherwin Williams.

We actually had 6 shelves before but when things were measured out and built more efficiently, we were able to have five and fit everything even better.

The bottom shelf is much deeper. The cat litter box hangs out in this room. The deeper shelf hides it a bit. Obviously I took it out for the pictures. You know what they look like. It’s all good.

I already had all of these white bins. I bought custom labels for them and also purchased a couple of these tall food storage containers from Ikea.

See how we have one that says ‘breakfast’? I used to have our cereal in bins like the clear ones above.

I was always refilling them and having to bring a bunch of different
bins to the table every morning. Then I heard a tip from
the ladies at the home edit
to put all the bags in one container that way you can just take that
one container to the table in the mornings. Game changer, people. Pretty
is great but if it isn’t less work for you then what is the point?

I’m so thankful for this pretty storage. He did an amazing job.

Remember, it was even it’s own little closet. We had the wall taken down before the challenge started which helped us better use the space.

So much different, huh?

Please excuse me while I go hang out in there. Never thought I’d feel that way about a laundry room. To be clear, I don’t feel that way about actual laundry. See?
