Mudroom Update

It’s been almost 2 years since I took a regular closet and turned it into our mudroom. (the original posts are here and here). It’s the project that’s been shared the most and landed me in Better Homes and Gardens last fall which was a huge goal of mine. I had so much fun with this project and wanted to share some tips on updating a mudroom. A couple weeks ago I freshened it up a bit so I thought I’d share some pictures with you. *this post contains affiliate links

I painted the top with left over paint from the girls bathroom renovation. It’s Sherwin Williams ‘Chaise Mauve’.  The shiplap and top of the bench needed a fresh coat of paint too. We do not go easy on this space. The painted floors are holding up well and structurally its all great!
We also replaced the light. While we loved it, these are drop ceilings and we were bumping into it a little more often than one should ever bump into a light…on the ceiling. This star light is my favorite!!
I love the refresh. It’s a nice change and it was good to be able to spruce it up on very little money.
I never thought we’d be hanging face masks from those hooks..my how times have changed.
Below you’ll find shopping links to everything you see. The names of the Ikea pieces can be found on this post and the awesome star flush mount light can be found here. ($40. There are “real” ones for $400…)

Thanks for reading, friends!

  1. How did you cover the curved opening at the bottom of the billy bookcases? I saw the 1×4 you used to cover the cable slot, but how did you cover the bookcase. Your piece looks so built in!!
