First of all, yay for another Global Styler post. With selling and moving and summer I have totally skipped out on many months of joining my friends Kathy, Corinna and Stephanie to share globally inspired decor and DIY’s. I’m so happy to be back….and that they let me come back. ; )
I know it’s Labor Day and, especially here in Texas, it won’t feel like fall for a very long time BUT today we’re talking fall mantel styling. I’ve never had a mantel. I’m so excited!
I decided that I wanted to give our mantel a Scandinavian vibe. To me this means simple, neutral and with natural elements.
Yes, this is minimalist. To me. I could have layered tons more stuff, people! This shows restraint.
I just shopped our house for most of it. The birch bark candles were thrifted but originally from pottery barn. The wooden bowls from a garage sale add warmth.
The green vase was my Grans. I just cut a branch from outside for a little height and greenery.
At our house books abound so they are always a free way to add in some color (or not), height and more layers. The woven bamboo tray and wooden vase are thrifted too.
The only other thing I did was quickly decorate some wooden acorns from the Target dollar spot.
Because Scandinavian design consists of very simple, clean lines, I decided to add a grid pattern to the acorns.
I just used a ruler and a white colored pencil, (no dry time) and made lines down.
and across. Using the width of the ruler to space them evenly.
To hang them from the tray I just used some jute string we had and tied them at different heights.
I love it! I can easily add some pumpkins in as the weather cools down and I go full-on fall.
Those fireplace plants are not realistic but I risked my well being to bring in what could have been a creature infested fern for a good pic. You’re welcome.
Make sure and head over to the other blogs to see their fall mantels.

How absolutely cute are those painted wooden acorns! I haven't shopped the dollar section this season yet, but now I have to and fast! 🙂 Beautiful mantel Jessica!
Thanks Stephanie! Dollar spot for the win!
