Good morning! I’ve been shopping new lighting lately….Like, I started pinning lights before we even moved into this house. I thought I would do a round up of the best modern electric lights that I’ve been loving. *this post contains affiliate links. this is the playroom from our old house but that’s a good fan/light I picked. (don’t worry, a ceiling fan roundup is coming) |
I’ve mentioned it before but I’m taking this house in a little different direction than our last. I want things to be a little more modern, a little more clean. (Clean lines, but maybe being cleaner literally wouldn’t hurt either. BUT THAT’S NOT IMPORTANT!)
Those things being said, here are my finds for modern, eclectic (because that means I can add in what I like and get away with it) and affordable flushmount and semi flushmount lighting:
My sweet husband who pretty much lets my decorate however I want had ONE request for this house and my lighting choices. No exposed light bulbs. But that’s all the rage right now I tell you! So hard!

I knew he felt this way but I went for an exposed bulb in the laundry room makeover at our old house because I knew we were about to sell it.
This house, I’m sticking to my guns. So far I have the light from Ikea in our mudroom. (here)
You may remember, I spray painted it. I have plans to paint the chandelier I bought for over our table too. Don’t let a metal finish limit you when you’re looking at lighting. If there’s something you like but wish it was a different color, spray paint it!
We just installed the new entry way light this weekend. Here’s a pictures of our unfinished, sloppily painted entryway. That makeover is coming soon. My mind is going a mile a minute with all the spaces in our house. I need to work on a space at a time. It’ll be a bit until this gets some love.

The only other light that I have immediate plans to buy is this one from West Elm.
I can picture it in our bathroom painted the same dark green as the mud closet with the white tile and this great light.
And just so I don’t end this post with a picture of a toilet, plunger and a trashcan full of trash…
There you have it. Hope you love these picks. Or at least I hope you’re inspired to start the hunt for your own favorite lighting.
