Holiday Gift Guide: 5-8 year old girls

Happy Thanksgiving! I know you probably won’t check this today but I wanted it to be out and ready for you when you’re ready for it. I told you I’d only be doing a few gift guides this year. On Tuesday I shared some gift ideas for a homebody. Today I’m talking about gift ideas for little girls. I have 2 of them, ages 5 and almost 8 (hence the post title) so I feel like I might be able to help you with some ideas for the young elementary school girl you may have in your life. *this post contains affiliate links.

I saw this cutesy little unicorn pillow. We try not to buy a bunch of toys but adding little touches to their room is a fun gift for our girls.

Never underestimate a set of pens and a notebook. Multicolored pen set with multicolored ink choices?! Yes please.

Sherlock is a game I found at a thrift shop at some point this year. I’m sure I paid less than $1 but it’s under $10 on amazon and I can’t recommend it enough. It is a great game. It’s like memory but better and more challenging. It’s fun for the girls, it’s fun for us. Our 5 year old plays and likes it but it does take some concentration and focus (we give her hints sometimes) so you decide if it would be right for your kiddo.

We checked this Rebel Girls book out at the library and it was great! It’s one page biographies about incredible women. The art is beautiful, the stories are great and there is a second one if you’ve already read the first.

Another book we love in this house is Rosie Revere, Engineer. I seriously cannot read it without getting emotional. I actually just quoted it for a project the other day. “Life
might have it’s failures, but this was not
it. The only true failure can come if you quit.”

We were introduced to Goldiebox a few years ago by a friend of mine. (I jokingly call her my life coach. She just has good ideas ok?!) Anyway, Goldieblox is a construction set geared toward girls. Each box comes with drawn instructions for inventions and stories to go along with each build. Our girls love them. They follow the directions but they also make their own inventions sometimes too.

The last thing I picked was a llama hat and gloves. Our big kid is super into llamas and super into aqua so these would be right up her alley.

I hope some of these spark your interest or at least give you an idea for a girl on your list. Pin the image below to save or share.

**Since originally writing this, I made a gift guide for kids games that don’t make parents cringe. Sherlock is on there but come back next week for the others.

Thanks for reading, friends!
