Hello! Long time no talk. I’ve been busy with design work but I’ve also been devoting lots of time to family. The girls are still home and virtual learning. My handsome man is home… I’ve done some projects but my people need me so that’s where I’ve been. Because this year was, hmmm hmmm, not what we expected, I really want to make Christmas as special and meaningful as I can for the girls. Pointing them to Jesus and showing them how to love their neighbor is one and two. Time with family will hopefully be three. And a sweet tree decorated by them can be four. Today I’ll be sharing our tree as a part of the My Home Style Block Hop hosted by Stephanie at Casa Watkins Living. You may be joining from Becky at Daly Digs and, if so, welcome!
Since we’ve been home, I’ve really just been craving comfort and tradition or routine. Because of this, and because I know the homeLy ornaments are my girl’s favorites, that’s how we decorated our tree. No theme, no new beautiful color schemed ornaments, just a nostalgic and homey, memory-filled tree.
Our living room has changed a lot this spring and summer. I just recently over grouted our brick for a more tonal, textured look.
We made the coffee table based on this Pottery Barn inspiration and I got a pair of these pretty, modern chairs to balance the traditional rug. They’re the perfect scale for in here, so reasonably priced and comfy! (The other one will come out with the tree goes away.)
Ok back to the tree.
The tree is a Scarlett fir from King of Christmas and is so pretty!
I made the faux leather tree collar last year. Here’s the tutorial for that.
The ornaments are either, from family, from our childhood or handmade by our sweet girls. This one is my favorite. I should probably laminate it for a little longer shelf life.
I did sprinkle in some copper, red and blush ornaments through out to help thing look a little more cohesive.
These felt santa bells were my Great Grandmothers. The same one that had amazing taste in rugs.
and look at this tiny Popsicle stick angel at the top. My 7 year old said “dad, look at this derpy angel I made when I was little” haha. She’s funny and I wouldn’t trade her derpy angel for anything.
Before I send you to the next tree I thought I’d share the reality this year.
That’s my blurry big kid doing school from the coffee table. Obviously, it’s not what we had planned but I’m so thankful they’re here and can learn at home, under and around the Christmas tree. Seems pretty dreamy to me.
