Happy Friday!! I was so excited to be asked by Stephanie at Casa Watkins Living to join in on the My Home Style: Christmas Tree blog hop. You may be joining me from Tag and Tibby. If so, welcome! I’m Jessica. Glad you’re here.
This is my 3rd year in this blog hop and I hope the trees you’ve seen all week have given you tons of inspiration as you begin to decorate yours. I am in love with our tree this year so let’s get to it.
This year I was inspired by the warmer, richer colors of fall…and, as it turns out, our area rug. So really, it’s the colors I’ve been using as I decorate our home.
I made this faux leather tree collar. Tutorial coming soon.
Tip: it’s ok if you want to switch up ornament colors from year to year. I went to Facebook Marketplace and sold groups of colors I no longer wanted. In fact, I’ve pared down our Christmas decor these last couple years. Especially if you go through your decor before others start decorating there’s a great market for resell.
For this color scheme, I actually bought 2 packs of the cylinder of different colored ornaments last year after Christmas. When it was time to decorate, I picked the colors I wanted to work with and quickly sold the others.
Tip: don’t limit your Christmas decor options to the Christmas
aisles. I purchased all the floral picks (minus the aqua ones– those
were spray painted last year) from the clearance fall decor at hobby
lobby. The garland on our mantle is in the everyday floral section at
hobby lobby too.
At first, I just had the warmer colors on the tree when I decided the icy blue gave it a little softer, balanced look. I sold our bright red ornaments and used the burgundy ones to still pull in the red of our stockings.
My favorite ones are these brown striped ornaments from At Home. They look like wood grain and add a little graphic pop to the tree. I wish I had bought a few more packs of those. (sorry, I wasn’t able to find a link to anything similar)

Next up on the tour, go check out Kelli and Kristi’s tree at Lolly Jane. It has been so fun touring all these trees this week. At some point soon, I’ll share the rest of our house’s Christmas decor. Thank you for having me, sweet Stephanie.
Thanks for reading, friends!
