We’ve Lived Here a Year! Links and pictures to all our progress.
It was a really quick year, yall! I felt it at the beginning but it didn’t take long to know that God handpicked this house for us. We love it. We have awesome neighbors. We get to walk to school and everything we need is close by. The girls are happy. My man isn’t exhausted after a super long commute. I’ve gotten to watch my business grow and I’ve tried projects to stretch myself. It’s been awesome. (Guess what? Today a stylist and photographer are here shooting our mudroom for BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS! That’s a dream I’ve had and it’s happening!) See? God is so good!!
As a way to celebrate our one year anniversary, I thought I would take you on a tour with before, after and for now pictures along with links to reveal and projects done in each room.
First up, the entryway. Here’s what it looks like now.
In here, we changed the light. Painted the front door (the current ‘lei flower’ was the second try), wallpapered the coat closet door. Changed hardware and painted the tile.
First thing to the left is the reading room. You probably know that’s our most recent makeover and it is my favorite.
Through those doors is the kitchen.I painted over the wallpaper in there.
Last week, on a whim, I took down the window walls upper cabinet doors to get a feel for an open shelving look.
But besides that, it has stayed the same. I think we’ll do a makeover for it in the fall. One Room Challenge style.
We redid the laundry room at the beginning of the new year. My handsome man has become quite the wood worker. Thanks to his handiness, brains and youtube.
The only thing we’ve done upstairs has been my office. We got a new fan and painted.
This green wall used to have my desk but my dad comes into town (from the country) for meetings 2 days a week and spends the night here so it turned into a guest bedroom / my office. My desk is on a plain white wall now but I’ll spruce it up at some point.
One last huge, amazing change. THE EXTERIOR. We had to replace the siding and our windows were horrible so we had all of that done and white paint to make it all even better!
I always get asked what I’m going to do when we finish our house. Will we move again? First of all, no. Secondly, there are lots of things to do. Rooms may look pretty but there are lots of projects that will make everything look even better. Flooring, new baseboards etc. Plus, there is always paint, furniture rearranging and thrifting to be had. Also there are ‘phase one’ projects that will get tweaked over time… Like someday I want to gut our bathroom and my closet, reconfigure it all to add a half bath for downstairs.. AND my design business is growing therefore other people’s houses are becoming my project. We’re good! Things are great!
So, there you go! It’s been a blessed year. I’m so thankful for this house. I can see the girls growing up here. To me, it’s the most charming, dreamy house. I’m so thankful that my sweet husband goes along with most of my ideas. I’m so thankful he encourages me to keep doing what I’m doing. And, I’m so thankful that this has been my canvas for the last year.
