Hey y’all! I know I’ve dragged this Christmas decor tour out a bit but it’s better than one long post AND helps me stretch things out so I don’t run out of Christmas stuff to talk about on here….(it’s mostly the latter.) I explained in the last post that this year I decorated with things we already had around the house. The dining room was no different.
I rearranged the back wall a little bit and used two baskets as a nod to… a snowman? We’ll say that.
I grabbed all the white candles that were placed all around our house and used them in a big group on the vanity. It’s crazy how grouping non-Christmasy things can instantly make a space look holiday ready. Styling tip: always make groupings in odd numbers.
I always love to stack books for different heights. I color coordinate the book’s spine to the look I’m going for. I like how the green book plays off the little tree on the other side.
This year I added those bottle brush trees from the target dollar spot. They’re so cute and cheery. I love the little bit of pink in them.
I was so happy when I realized I could stick a Christmas tree in my little thrifted bike planter. A few tassels on top and this tree was done.
The dictionary page wall was a DIY from about 8 or 9 years ago. I still love it so much. You can see details on that project here.
On the table I used a scarf as a table runner. Dishes that I already had and filled the bowl with some pretty ornaments.
I recently stripped and stained our dining table. It was time consuming but easy and made a big difference in the look. You can see that post here.
I brought this awesome bamboo kiddie chair in here from the playroom, put the girls’ ginger bread pillow and a few Christmas books for them to read. Spoiler alert: They haven’t sat here one time. But it’s cute.

I’m so happy with this simple space.
It’s warm and Christmasy.
It’s a perfect space to enjoy hot chocolate, soup and all the meals that our big girl complains about… not bitter at all. : )

As I’m typing this, I decided I’m taking the rest of the year off. We’ve got two birthday’s this week, school parties, family plans and so much to be thankful for. It’s been a great year. I feel so blessed with where God has brought us and feel so much peace for the 2018 He has in store for us. Come back in January! I’m going to be focusing on organizing and purging. It’s gonna be good!
