Well happy Tuesday! Thanks for being here. Today I have a marble lamp knock off for you. This project is so quick and easy. I didn’t even unplug the lamp, people. That’s a ‘my children are entertained for 5 minutes’ project if I ever knew one. This post is sponsored by Soraa Home. All thoughts, opinions and painted lamps are my own. Thanks for supporting brands that support House Homemade.
You may remember, the lamp on my side table more recently looked like this.
I actually painted this design when I did a knock off of an Anthropologie vase I liked. You can read about that makeover here. As you can see, I’m no stranger to painting a lamp. Y’all, lamps are expensive. This is a nice, heavy lamp. Instead of donating it and spending money on another one… PAINT IT.
I wanted something lighter and brighter so with this lamp as inspiration, I gave it a couple fresh coats of white and got to work.
I used some grey craft paint and a wet brush to create wavy, bumpy, jagged lines.
I used a wet foam brush to go over those bumpy. wavy lines with a spongy, messy stroke.
I’m describing it like that because, dont say ‘I can’t paint so I can’t do this’. If you can make an imperfect line, you can do this.
I kept moving around the lamp, making and spreading lines.
I even got a little heavy handed in a spot and added a little white back on top to fix it.
That’s it. No clear coat. No wait time. Just an instant update to a 12 year old lamp. (I know that because we got it at a wedding shower.)
After I was done. I switched out our current light bulbs with some from Soraa Home. I picked the radiant bulbs for our bedroom.
They have a whole line of bulbs called ‘healthy’ that are free of the blue light that can keep you awake at night but I picked these bulbs because they are closest to bright, natural light.
In the photo below, my ‘marble’ lamp has the radiant bulb and the other lamp has another type of bulb. You can see how the light coming out of hubby’s lamp is more yellow.
I love the bright, not blue, not yellow glow these give off.
Big thanks to Soraa Home for the light bulbs and the extra motivation to continue the process of creating a beautiful room we love. (I’m also realizing that if you don’t follow me on Instagram you probably haven’t seen any of our bedroom.) Shop the affiliate links below to get the look.
