Yall, it’s Monday night. I usually write things way further in advance. I’ve got a few e design client projects happening right now. One is a patio space! What a perfect time to start thinking about making a space for spring!! I’m in the middle of a makeover project here but I’ll tell you more about that on Thursday. For now I thought I’d update you on a few things that have happened around here. Come to think of it, they all revolve around Facebook Marketplace. PS if you didn’t know, I traveled to Facebook’s headquarters in October for an event. Read more about it here.
While I was working on the laundry room I may have mentioned this but we wanted to find a glass door for the space. This room connects to the kitchen and the window in here helps light up the kitchen too. The only problem is that when we’re doing laundry we like the room closed off so that things are quieter. Enter Facebook Marketplace. (pssst I have tips for finding and selling second hand, here.)
I found an antique door with a window pane for $60. It was in rougher shape than I thought but we glued up some sections. Check out that expect level clamping situation.
Now it’s time to strip the paint. I’d love to keep in bare wood. We’ll see.
I found an awesome pair of chairs ($130/) for the design of the reading room. (We’ll be tackling that space for the One Room Challenge in the Spring.) We ended up tossing the back cushions and I actually spray dyed them to dull the color down a bit. This picture was taken in bright sunlight. They aren’t that vibrant inside.
They’re more like this. Also, look at that angel face.
And the last thing…
We sold the piano.

It barely got used. It was collecting dust. All the furniture was shoved over to the other side of the room. It just didn’t work for us. I listed it on marketplace and it was gone the next day. Actually some friends in our neighborhood bought it so we can still visit it whenever we want.
At first I got a little nervous because the gaping hole was a little bit bigger than I had pictured but I styled it and I love it now. (pardon the open outlet. We’ll get to that.)
So there you go. 3 things in, one big thing gone. I love it! Selling and buying and giving things new life makes me so happy! Come back Thursday to see the new project I’m working on.
Thanks for reading, friends!
